Dr. Pandolfi was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Fluent in Spanish, he obtained his medical degree and was valedictorian of his class from Universidad de Autonomy de Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed his advanced GI fellowship at John H. Stroger Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Pandolfi also completed his advanced training fellowship in Endoscopic Ultrasound from the University of Montreal in Canada. Although therapeutic Gastroenterology is a very high tech specialty, the human touch of compassion and care he maintains with his patients and their families is equally vital to their well-being. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, he believes communication is key in establishing a trusting relationship with his patients, as well as helping ease any fear, discomfort or embarrassment. Foremost, he believes in protecting patient’s human dignity through respect. As a skilled practitioner, Dr. Pandolfi provides experienced, compassionate and advanced technological care for his patients so they can get back to enjoying a healthy life with their families. Dr. Pandolfi’s extensive skill set includes and is not limited to therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), therapeutic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatoscopy (ERCP), Spyglass cholangioscopy, stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for management of difficult polyps and early gastrointestinal malignancy, peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for management of Zenker’s diverticulum, Achalasia, gastroparesis, Barrett’s ablation, endoscopic suturing, luminal and transluminal stenting, full thickness resection and transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) for reflux management. Dr. Pandolfi is passionate about what he does and how he can help his patients improve their well-being. Whether it’s a routine colonoscopy or complex polyp or stent, he is committed to providing the highest standards of care to patients.
Dr. Pandolfi serves on the Edward Hospital GI/Oncology tumor board and works closely with the surgical oncology staff. He previously was the head of EUS at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. He has also completed numerous speaking engagements at SGNA events (Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates). He is also a member of ASGE, AGA and ACG.
Outside of work, Dr. Pandolfi enjoys fishing and spending time with his family. He enjoys the peaceful and soothing environment near the water. He also loves cooking Peruvian food with his family and is always up for a travel adventure.
