Maureen Zamora, FNP-BC

Maureen was born and raised in the Philippines by her loving parents who took a big part and inspiration of her becoming a nurse.  As a small child, she would naturally care for her family members and friends. She would exhibit thoughtfulness and sincerity while at it, a trait that was recognized especially by her mother, who encouraged her to take up B.S.Nursing at De Ocampo Memorial College in Manila.  After practicing for many years in the Philippines and in other countries, she then finally settled in the United States where she worked as an ER and ICU Nurse for 25 years.  Her love and passion for her profession pushed her to pursue further studies at Northern Illinois University where she conferred the degree of Master of Science in Nursing: Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She is very hardworking and pays close attention to details. She is particularly attentive and responsive when assessing a patient’s condition and she ensures that her patient’s needs are met with compassion and positivity every time. Maureen is also an excellent team player as she gets along well with her coworkers, whom she encounters every day.  She exhibits leadership yet she observes collaborative practices as well to improve the quality of health care services that she provides to her patients. Her clinical interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease and liver diseases. Outside of work, Maureen enjoys singing, cooking, baking and gardening. Maureen is also certified through the ANCC and is a member of AGA and ASGE.

  • Favorite cookie: I don’t have much of a sweet-tooth but I enjoy eating a snicker doodle once in a while.
  • What is your favorite way to relax? I loved relaxing with my fur baby, Maxine!
  • Favorite childhood food: Puto, which is a rice cake from the Philippines.
  • Favorite color: My favorite color is blue as I see it as cool and calming to look at the bright blue skies and the wonderful color of the ocean. Blue compliments my personality which often symbolizes serenity, stability, inspiration and wisdom. It also reflects on my charming and joyful ways of interacting with people both in personal and professional aspects of my life.
